Please find below the golf report as issued to the local newspaper - except for a list of excuses for when you just have to play golf:
The doctor ordered me to get lots of fresh air.
The fish are not biting this time of year.
The doctor recommended I play golf every day...I think that’s what he said.
The leaves are changing colours.
The wind is blowing from the north, I may be able to par the third.
Saturday’s competition, a single stableford, was contested by the usual locals plus some visitors, from Temora and Howlong.
The golfing gods provided terrific weather for the day but omitted to provide terrific scores, with nearly all golfers following Adam Scott on the greens when they should have have taken a Jason Day leaf out of the book.
Winning with a score of 32 points was Aaron Walton. Darryl Jordan from Howlong thought he’d won the nearest the pin on fourteen with 364 cm, but he didn’t. He won it with 274 cm on the seventeenth.
Unusually, no birdies were recorded on the day. Gobbles to Mick McDonell on ten, Aaron on ten and eleven and to Peter Frecklington on seventeen.
Congratulations to Jason Day for his PGA win. Minus twenty. The closest we get to that is in a par event!
