Please find below the golf report as issued to the local newspaper - except for the following excerpt from section F of the golf dictionary:
Fairway Wood - A club with a medium loft that is used to get a ball out of a good lie on the fairway and into position for a shot from a slope, a bunker, a water hazard or behind a tree.
Finesse Shot - Any non-standard shot used to get a ball out of an awkward or impossible lie by bending, twisting or stretching the rules or by hitting it directly through a loophole.
Tuesday’s competition for a single stableford was won by George Gerrard with 32 points. No nearest the pin was recorded but shot of the day went to Marie Bagnall with a chip in for birdie on the seventeenth. This attracted five stableford points. This is possibly better than winning nearest the pin.
The August monthly medal stroke round was played on Saturday in the face of a 90% prediction of rain from the bureau of meteorology. But the first fairway ant nest showed no pismire swarm, so all players remained dry.
Local numbers were boosted with visitors from Tura Beach and Woolooware, honours of the day going to the visitors from Woolooware.
Womens winner with a nett 82 was Noelene Morrison, who also scooped nearest the pin on the seventeenth, with a measured shot and a measure of 1200 centimetres. Mens winner with a nett 65 was Stan Morrison. Mens nearest the pin to Graeme Bell on the seventh with 236 centimetres. Tough putt. Birdie of the day to Col Freck on the fifth with a chip in.

Thanks to all the helpers who turned up during the week to move furniture, stir paint, wield paintbrushes, and listen to music during the repainting of the clubhouse inside and out. Come out some time and see the new colour scheme. Dreaming, silverspray, gracieux and tempting teal.
