Please find below the golf report as issued to the local newspaper - except for the following excerpts from Section C of the golf dictionary:
Casual Water - “A temporary accumulation of water. The rules of golf provide that a ball may be moved without penalty from any non-permanent wet area, such as a rain puddle. Tears, however, no matter how copious, do not constitute casual water.”
Cut - “A controlled shot that moves from left to right. Most golfers shout “Cut!” to their ball after they see it heading well to the left of their target, not realising that this is not an ‘on-demand’ feature of a golf ball.”
The winner of Saturday’s single stableford was Peter Frecklington with 41 points. Runner up to Graeme Bell on a countback from George Gerrard on 36 points. Shot of the day to Peter, with a gobble for a birdie four on the fifteenth.
Next Saturday is Vera’s Day in memory of Vera McPake. A three-person ambrose with hit off at 11 am. There will be a barbeque lunch half way round.
This Sunday, the final of the small clubs pennant match will be played at Clover Leigh. Bigga will play Binalong for the pennant. The also rans, Clover Leigh and Boorowa will battle it out for the ignominiousness of the wooden spoon. Hit off at 10 am.
