With the warmer weather and in ever drying conditions, members out at Clover Leigh contested their 2014 club Stroke and Handicap Championships when the course held both rounds on Saturday afternoon and on Sunday morning.

Saturday saw this year?s final of the Medal of Medals been held along side the first round of the championships when the winner from all the previous twelve Monthly Medals played to be crowned the 2014 Medal of Medals Champion.

In men?s side of the draw it was Nico who had to fend off Peter Freck when the result went down to a very close count-back when both recorded nett 66.

The ladies winner was Tania Baldwin with nett 72 from next best Marie Bagnall with nett 76 to be in the runner?s up position.

In the championships part of the day?s play it was Peter Freck for the men with 73 of the stick for the scratch and Nico with his nett 66 to be leading the handicap event.

Tania was the leading ladies in the scratch with 84 of the stick, with Marie in the handicap with nett 76.

NTP?s going to George Gerrard for the men on the fifth hole with a 3.4 metres shot and to Tania for the ladies with a slightly more 3.85 metres of the cup on the seventeenth.

A gobble each to Freck on the sixth and Mick on the seventh, with two going to Peter Freck on the sixteenth and seventeenth holes respectively.

On Sunday morning with an earlier start of 8 a.m. in attempt to beat the heat some, the field fronted up, some in good form with other?s not so good.

One who continued on from his form of the previous day, or maybe the anticipation of his birthday on Monday, was Peter Freck who took out the 2014 Men?s Stroke Championships with combined tally of 150 of the stick with George having blinder of a final round to recorded 82 of the stick to combine with his score from Saturday to total 176.

Tania added to her trophy cabinet with the 2014 Ladies Stroke Championships with 168 off the stick.

The 2014 Men?s Handicap Champion is Nico who managed to record the same result as on Saturday, although he had spent the in between time in might be said in a enjoyable state to wee hours of Sunday morning when he had a nett tally of 124.

Next best for the men?s handicap with nett 141 was Reg Frecklington from a close result to the rest of the field.

The ladies 2014 Handicap Champion is Marie Bagnall with nett 147.

NTP?s for Sunday was Nico with a close 1.34 metres on the twelfth for the men and to Tania once again for the ladies on the eighth with a 2.01 metre shot.

Gobbles to Graeme Bell on the sixth and to Nico on the seventh.

A birdie each to Nico and Peter Freck on the twelfth and fifteenth holes respectively.

Those who won events over the weekend will be presented with their trophies at this year?s Presentation and Christmas Cheer dinner which will be held on Friday, December 19, with a seven for a 7.30 p.m. start.

This coming Saturday will see the start of the Summer Comp., with event for the round to be decided just before tee-time at 12 noon.
