Due to rain and bitterly cold conditions on Saturday afternoon, competition play out at Clover Leigh was cancelled an hour after the advertised tee time when the conditions did not improve.

But on Sunday morning the decision was taken early to chance the holding of the third round of the Small Clubs Pennants and Stableford competition that was at the Boorowa golf club. A choose that proved to be the right one when the weather cleared to be cold but a rain free day.

In the day?s Pennant?s side of the proceeding we saw Clover Leigh up against Bigga, with Bigga taking out the round with a three win too two loss result.

For Clover Leigh, Peter Frecklington won his match over Chris Bale three and two, Tania Baldwin won hers five and four, Mick went down to Ron Chudleigh three and four, Stan Morrison going down to Gary Ridland two and three with George Gerrard loosing to the in form junior, Wade Picker on the second last hole two down.

In the other side of the draw we saw Binalong and Canowindra play with Binalong winning with a dominating four wins to one loss.

The progress scores in the pennants sees Boorowa still out in front although they had the bye this round with 19 points, Binalong next with 17, Bigga with 12, Clover Leigh with 10 points and opening their account we still see Canowindra last with 2 points.

As is the norm, hosting club always play well in the Stableford part of the day?s competition when Boorowa took the largest share of the points on offer with 35 in all from Bigga next with 14, Binalong with 12, and Clover Leigh with 2 points.

The progress scores in the Stableford sees Boorowa leading with 79 points, Bigga 49, Binalong 30, Canowindra 24 points and Clover Leigh in last position with seven.

The next round of the Small Club?s Pennants and Stableford competition will be held at Binalong this coming Sunday with a 10 a.m. start.

There was one club match-play game contested at Clover Leigh earlier in the week, when George and Reg play with George winning with a three and one result win over Reg.

This Saturday at 12 p.m. the event for the round will be decided just before tee time.

A date and event to remember is Saturday July 5, when the club will be honouring for its twelfth time, ?Vera?s Day,? a Three Person Select Partners Ambrose event at 12 noon.

The evening will see a BYO BBQ for those wishing to stay on.
