A most wonderful few days greeted members and visitors last weekend when competition started out at Clover Leigh on Friday afternoon with a Single Stableford event over nine holes. Winning with a points score of 17 was Freck who was up from down the Far South Coast for a few days, from Mick who was next best with 16 points. On Saturday afternoon the June Monthly Medal Stroke event was contested with the men?s winning placing going to Peter Frecklington with a fine nett 64 to just edge Mick to the runner?s up position once more with nett 65. In the women?s side of the draw we saw Tania Baldwin come to fore with nett 80 from Marie Bagnall next best with nett 90. NTP?s going to George Gerrard for men on the seventh hole with 8.75 metres, and to Tania for the ladies, with a 7.2 metres shot of the cup on the eighth hole. Gobbles were a plenty when seven were recorded in all with one a piece to Tania, Nico, Mick, Terry Casement and Michael Randall, and with Freck scoring two on the second and ninth holes. A birdie each to Freck on the ninth, Tania on the tenth and too Peter Freck on the eleventh holes respectively. With Freck?s birdie being scored on the Betty Frecklington?s birdie trophy hole ninth. This coming Saturday, the event for the round will be decided just prior to tee time at 12 noon. The following day, Sunday, members will travel to the Boorowa Golf Club to contest the third round of the Small Cubs Pennants and Stableford competition with a 10 a.m. start. The following Sunday, June 22, a quick turn around is when the fourth round of the fore mentioned competition will be held at the Binalong Golf Club, and it is hoped to have a good group from Clover Leigh venture to the southern limits of this competition.
