In fine but cool golfing conditions, members out at Clover Leigh contested a Par Event on Saturday afternoon. Winning the men?s side for the draw we saw Peter Bolton take out the event with plus one. Graeme Bell was next best with minus two. The women?s winner was Tania Baldwin with a plus one result also from Maree Marland next. NTP gong to Mick on the seventh with six metres. There was only one gobble for the day when Peter Bolton had it on the second. A birdie to Tania on the first hole which was also the only one to be found on the cards. On Sunday morning members travelled to Canowindra to contest the second round of the Small Clubs Pennants and Stableford competition which saw 55 players take to the wonderfully prepared course. In the Pennant?s side of the day?s event we saw Clover Leigh go down four loses to one squared match to the in form Boorowa, with Peter Freck with a five and three loss to Bob Styles, Mick with a three and two loss to Richard Hall, Peter Bolton with a eight and seven loss to the on fire Rob Dunwoodie, Tania with a squared match against Monica Good and Graeme Bell with a eight and six loss to Tim Good. In the other match-play match up we saw Bigga take on Binalong with Bigga winning their round with a three wins to two loss result. Progress scores in the Pennants sees Boorowa in front with 19 points, Binalong with 9, and Bigga and Clover Leigh both with 6 points and Canowindra who had the bye this round yet to open their account. The Stableford part of the day?s play saw the host take the lion?s share of the points on offer when Canowindra scored 24 points, Boorowa next with 19, Bigga with 9, and Binalong with 7 and Clover Leigh with 1 point. Progress scores in the Stableford competition sees Boorowa out in front with 41, Bigga with 35, Canowindra with 24, and Binalong with 18 and Clover Leigh with 5 points respectively. A highlight of the day?s play for Clover Leigh was when Peter Freck took-out the NTP trophy with a shot that was with in 50 centimetres of the cup. The third round of the Small Clubs Pennants and Stableford competition will be held at the ever changing Boorowa Golf Course on Sunday, June 15 with a 10 a.m. start. This coming Saturday at 12 noon the club will be holding their club?s qualifying round of this year?s NSW Men?s Fourball Champions with the first three qualifying pairs going on to play in the District Final at West Wyalong on July 13. A Single Stableford event will be held in conjunction with the day?s play for those who do not wish to be a part of the Fourball competition.
