Golf Report for
12th April 2014

A bright sunny day greeted members on Saturday afternoon out at Clover Leigh when a Single Stableford event was contested.

Winning with a point?s score of 37 was Peter Bolton from next best, Tania Baldwin was in the runner?s up position when a close count-back was needed from Peter Freck, when both recorded 36 points a piece.

NTP?s going to Mick for men on the eighth hole with a very close 71 centimetres and to Tania for the ladies on the same hole with a 5.1 metre shot of the cup.

Mick?s gobble on the sixth was the only one to be found on the cards. There were no birdies recorded for the round, and yes Mick couldn't convert his NTP shot.

On Sunday morning the fine weather continued when Barbara and Richard Stonestreet from down at Bendick?s, Calare Tavern, sponsored a Three Person Ambrose draw for partner?s event.

The winning trio of Val Withers, Phil Windsor and Peter Frecklington took out the day?s play with a fine nett 56 and two thirds.

Runner?s up going to Rick King, Murray Swann and Gary Marland with nett 60.

A Bradman?s trophy was also on offer and this honour went to the team of Georgie Miln, Will Nash and Geoff Brown when they recorded a nett 77 and one half result.

Longest drives to Peter Freck for the men, and to Val for the ladies.

NTP?s were up for grabs on all the par three?s, with Peter Freck and Phil Windsor with one each, and the other two holes going to a draw when George Gerrard drew one and Marie Bagnall drew the other.

This coming weekend starting on Good Friday afternoon, a Nine Hole event will hit-off at 3 p.m., and for those who wish to stay on, at around 6 p.m., the traditional BYO BBQ Fish Dinner will be the go.

Fried chips for small charge will also be available.

On Easter Saturday, at 12 noon, depending on numbers, a Team?s Event with a draw for partner?s will be contested.

On Friday evening and Saturday afternoon during golf, Easter Raffles will be running, so bring that little bit extra to help cover costs.

And coming up on Sunday, April 27, the first round of this year?s Small Club?s Pennant?s and Stableford competition will hit-off at the Bigga Golf Club with a 10 a.m. tee time.

If you wish to be a part of this year?s competition, could you please let Mick know, so if need be travel arrangements can be organized well in advance.
