| 29th March 2014 |
With well over sixty millimetres of rain falling in the district over the last week, play out at Clover Leigh started with a foggy hit-off which cleared to overcast in slightly steamy conditions when competitors contested a Two Person Ambrose event to honour the memory of Ken Marland on Saturday morning. The day?s play was proudly sponsored by Gary and Maree Marland on behalf on the family with some assistants from the club. Taking out ?Ken?s Cup,? for 2014 were the father and son pairing of Reg and Peter Frecklington with a fine nett score of 58.5, to be well in front of the runner?s up Freck and Nico who combined well to record nett 64. The Bradman?s trophy went to the mother and daughter team of Pam Frecklington and Maree Marland. Longest Drives for the men to Conan Scott, and for ladies to Tania Baldwin. NTP?s to Maree for the ladies on the eighth hole with a close 1.4 metres, and for the men it was Nico with a closer 58 centimetres of the cup on the fourteenth hole. Just short note on Nico, all at Clover Leigh would like send congratulations to him, when last weekend at Talbingo, he recorded his first ever 'Hole In One.' There was only one gobble to be found on the cards when Reg scored it on the third. After the golf presentations, the 2014 AGM was conducted amongst other thing, all members on the board have been re-elected to their pervious positions. This Saturday at 12 noon, the April, Monthly Medal Stroke event will be contested. And in last week?s report I informed you that a Three Person Ambrose event will be held at the course on Sunday, April 13, with a 10 a.m. hit-off time. Well I can confirm the day when Richard Stonestreet from the Calare Tavern at Bendick Murrell will be sponsoring a Three Man Ambrose draw for partner?s event.
